A long time ago in a galaxy far away my friend DG and I were walking back from a gas chamber exercise. Now trust me my Faithful Reader there is no way a gas chamber exercise can be pleasant. As we walked by the Headquarters of the unit that did the exercise DG stopped in and asked to talk to the Head Fred. He complemented the HF and told him what a good job the guy in charge of making us miserable did. I inquired and DG said “If someone does a good job, complement them immediately.” Food for thought.
So if you are at a restaurant and you get crappy service do you call the manager over and complain? Sure you do. If you are at a restaurant and get exceptional service do you say to yourself “I am going to email or whatever and tell them what great service I got”. Sure you do. However, do you actually follow through? I heard a preacher once say “Good intentions are like crying babies. They should be carried out immediately”.
Told ya that to tell you this.
I had great service at TGI Fridays tonight. Before I signed the tab I asked my server to bring the Manager over. With she and he standing there I sung her praises. She blushed and he appreciated the good news. Did it get her more money? I doubt it. Did it make her feel important? I am sure it did.
My point (and I do have one) is make sure that if you receive good service at any level and in anything you do acknowledge it NOW! Do not wait until later cause you won’t do it. Remember people serving you have a thankless job. If they screw up they get yelled at. If they do good, no one notices.
“When we do bad, no one forgets. When we do good, no one remembers.”
